Who needs to create an AUSTRAC Online business account?
AUSTRAC Online is available to all businesses with obligations under the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (AML/CTF Act) and the Financial Transaction Reports Act 1988 (FTR Act).
AML/CTF Act
It is mandatory for all businesses with AML/CTF Act obligations to be enrolled on the Reporting Entity Roll. For these entities, an AUSTRAC Online business account is created when enrolment is completed.

FTR Act
It is not mandatory for businesses that only have FTR Act obligations to create an AUSTRAC Online business account. However, businesses with FTR Act obligations may choose to create an account to make it easier to submit reports.

How can I create an AUSTRAC Online business account?
To create an AUSTRAC Online business account, enrol or register, an AUSTRAC business profile form must be completed and submitted for processing.
Businesses already known to AUSTRAC
If you have an existing AUSTRAC Online business account but have not yet completed the mandatory enrolment for reporting entities captured under the AML/CTF Act, please do so by logging into your existing AUSTRAC Online account.

Businesses new to AUSTRAC
If you are setting up a new business and you do not have an AUSTRAC Online business account, please download and submit the 'AUSTRAC business profile form'.
Download and submit the AUSTRAC business profile form
Only download the 'AUSTRAC business profile form' if your business meets all of the following five requirements:
- my business does not have an existing AUSTRAC Online business account
- my business has obligations under the AML/CTF Act or the FTR Act
- my business is not currently a member of a designated business group
- my business has never submitted transaction reports to AUSTRAC electronically or via paper reporting methods
- I do not have user access to an AUSTRAC Online business account for any other businesses.
The form will require you to provide AUSTRAC with information about your business. If your business is defined as a 'reporting entity' under the AML/CTF Act, you also need to provide AUSTRAC with:
- the designated service(s) provided
- whether your business is exempt from the requirement to have an AML/CTF program (Part 7 of the AML/CTF Act) and
- if your business is not exempt from Part 7 of the AML/CTF Act you will also need to provide the number of employees your business employs and the earnings of your business.

How do I access my AUSTRAC Online account once it is created?
Once your AUSTRAC business profile form has been successfully processed, an AUSTRAC Online business account will be created for your business.
If you requested AUSTRAC Online access when submitting the business profile form, you will be emailed a login and password to access the AUSTRAC Online business account as an Administrator.

What kinds of AUSTRAC Online access are there?
AUSTRAC Online provides three different levels of user access:

The Administrator has full function access to the AUSTRAC Online business account to:
- maintain business details
- create/inactivate contact and user accounts
- reset passwords for other users
- alter user privileges
- create all reports

The Approval and Submission role has limited function access to the AUSTRAC Online business account to:
- create transaction reports
- submit transaction reports
- verify and submit transaction reports awaiting approval.

- create and data enter transaction reports.

Users with Administrator level access are tasked with maintaining all contacts and users for an AUSTRAC Online business account. Therefore, the Administrator for the AUSTRAC Online business account can alter your user privileges if you require a specific level of access to create and submit transaction reports.

What if I do not know my user ID?
Your Administrator can look up this information for you. If you are unsure who the Administrator is for your business's existing AUSTRAC Online account, you can contact the AUSTRAC Help Desk at help_desk@austrac.gov.au or phone 1300 021 037 (a local call within Australia).
If the Administrator is no longer with the organisation, the AUSTRAC Online Administrator Authority template (Word, 67KB) can be used to apply for access as the new Administrator. Simply print the template onto your business letterhead, complete the form and have it signed by the appropriate authority before emailing it to help_desk@austrac.gov.au or faxing it to (03) 8636 0508 for processing.

Forgotten user ID or passwords
If you have forgotten your user ID, please contact your AUSTRAC Online Administrator or the AUSTRAC Help Desk. User IDs should not be shared among business employees.
If you have forgotten your password, go to the AUSTRAC 'Login Zone' and click 'Forgot your password?'. You will be prompted to enter your user ID, then click the 'Submit' button. This will reset your password and the system will send an automated email to your nominated contact email address containing a system-generated temporary password.

How can I update my AUSTRAC Online user account details?
To change your contact details or password, log into AUSTRAC Online and select the 'My Details' quick link. Your user account details will be displayed along with the options to 'Update my Details' and 'Change my Password' available at the top of the screen.
If you are unable to login and update your contact email address, access the AUSTRAC Online Change Contact Email Address Authority template (Word, 187KB). Simply print the template onto your business letterhead, complete the form and have it signed by the appropriate authority before emailing it to help_desk@austrac.gov.au or faxing it to (03) 8636 0508 for processing.

What if I no longer require my AUSTRAC Online business account?
Businesses with AML/CTF Act obligations must apply to the AUSTRAC CEO for removal from the Reporting Entity Roll in accordance with Schedule 1 section 51G of the AML/CTF Act. To make an application to be removed from the Reporting Entities Roll, log into AUSTRAC Online, expand the 'My Business' menu and select the 'Business Profile' link. Your business' enrolment status will be displayed along with the option to 'download the Reporting Entity Roll removal form' available at the top of the screen.
