Before you apply
To have the best chance of success:
- Check you are eligible for the role. You must be an Australian citizen to work at AUSTRAC. If you have accepted an APS redundancy benefit, please check the APSC guidelines to see if you’re eligible to apply for vacancies.
- Learn about AUSTRAC and the role. Explore the AUSTRAC website, read the job description carefully, and contact the nominated contact officer if you want to find out more about the position.
How to apply
You can search our current vacancies to apply for a job with us.
As part of your application, you will need to upload a copy of your resume and provide details on your suitability for the role.
If you are selected for an interview and require any reasonable adjustments, please advise the Contact Officer.
At the completion of the selection process, we will contact you about your outcome – either by phone (successful applicants) or by email (unsuccessful applicants).

Pre-employment check
The safety of our people and protection of our information are our utmost priorities and critical to maintaining our integrity, value and reputation.
If you are selected as the preferred applicant for a role at AUSTRAC, you will need to complete a number of pre-employment checks which must be completed satisfactorily before we can make you a formal offer of employment. Pre-employment checks typically include proof of identity and qualifications, police history checks, medical declarations and completion of a questionnaire.
AUSTRAC employees also require an Australian Government security clearance. This includes checking your identity and background, finances, digital footprint information and other assessments depending on the level of security clearance required for the role.
Getting ready for your first day
Before you start at AUSTRAC, we help you prepare by providing you with information, training, tools and resources via a smartphone app.
This includes information about what to expect in your first week, our culture, location information, videos about AUSTRAC’s work and social responsibility, and a welcome video from the CEO.
The onboarding journey continues once you start at AUSTRAC where you will complete induction training and access resources, surveys and information.
