Enhancing AUSTRAC Online: Your feedback in action
AUSTRAC is planning an online security upgrade that will change how you log onto AUSTRAC Online. This upgrade will further strengthen the security of the information you provide when you interact with AUSTRAC. With any upgrade, we want to ensure good user experience.
In February 2025, we invited you to participate in our online security survey to understand your experience using online security features, preferred authentication methods, and your views on the importance of security and what this looks like within your business.
We received a strong response rate and your feedback has been invaluable. Thank you to everyone who participated.
The survey sought responses focused on security features, including multi-factor authentication (MFA) and strong password requirements. The key insights that emerged demonstrated that the majority of your businesses:
- significantly value robust security measures,
- have diverse verification method preferences,
- have a high degree of satisfaction with our upcoming security uplift features, and
- would value educational resources and support adoption of these changes.
Your responses will play a critical role in enhancing our upcoming cyber security uplift strategy and schedule. This survey is part of our ongoing commitment to both continuous improvement and partnering with industry to ensure your experiences and security priorities directly shape enhancements to our systems and channels.
Get involved – Take part in our pilot for new online security features
We are now looking for early adopters to be part of a pilot group for the new online security features. If your business would like to be part of this group, email HaveYourSay@austrac.gov.au and we will get in touch about the next steps.
You can now provide feedback on your enrolment and registration form experience
Since February 2025 users have the ability to provide feedback in AUSTRAC online on the enrolment and registration forms. You can now rate and share thoughts on your experience.
This functionality enables us to have real time feedback on the features and functionality that are important to you, which will be used for continuous improvement activities.
What’s coming up?
We are working on the delivery of the new AUSTRAC Online platform. The aims for the new platform are to:
- improve user accessibility and user experience,
- enhance platform security against cyber security threats, and
- improve data quality.
Co-design of the future AUSTRAC Online platform
If your business is interested in getting a sneak peek of the future AUSTRAC Online platform, we will be running online early-round co-design sessions in June. The 60-minute sessions will be hosted on Microsoft Teams, allowing you to see the new platform, ask questions and provide feedback. Register your interest by emailing us at HaveYourSay@austrac.gov.au.
These sessions will be followed by more detailed co-design sessions as this work progresses.
