New video on cross-border movement of monetary instruments available now

We have developed a new video to explain overseas travellers’ obligations to submit Cross-Border Movement of Monetary Instruments (CBM-MI) forms.

Watch the CBM-MI video on our website.

People travelling into or out of Australia with more than AUD10,000 (or foreign currency equivalent) in cash, traveller’s cheque or money order, need to report this to AUSTRAC.

This video will help the public understand their legal obligations and encourage them to use the digital forms available on AUSTRAC’s website over the paper forms available at the ports.

While paper forms will still be available, the digital forms are preferred due to their much shorter processing times.

How is this relevant to you?

The general public may seek out information from your employees, website, social media channels and other communications to find information about moving money into or out of Australia.

You should direct members of the public seeking information about CBM-MI forms and their obligations to our Moving money across international borders guidance page.
