Our approach to Co-design

AUSTRAC has always meaningfully engaged with stakeholders on different projects and initiatives, as exemplified by our public-private partnership, Fintel Alliance. We want to continue working as a trusted and transparent leader in the fight against financial crime. To support this, we have developed principles and guardrails for our approach to co-design.

At AUSTRAC we view co-design along a spectrum, from consultative engagement at one end to full partnership at the other. The appropriate approach to co-design depends on the initiative’s complexity, what we need from our stakeholders and risk level.

By involving stakeholders in our design process we can benefit from community expertise to improve policy, program and services, and deliver better outcomes.

Co-design can have different meanings among stakeholders with differing assumptions and expectations. By outlining our approach, we aim to provide consistency and clarity on how we use co-design at AUSTRAC.

Our co-design principles are: Inclusive, transparent, trusted, purposeful, open and outcomes-focused.
